It’s the first day of school. At my house. Ever. I’ve spent an obscene amount of time creating a “schedule” (Thank you Internet moms who are OCD & way more organized than me). Let’s see how long we stick to it!
9:45am PST: Sang a song and danced to wake their sweet butts up. This vacay is officially over. (So she said with her head held high and determination filling her veins).
:38 into study session #1: Apparently DD hates journaling. Now she can’t get into Math – something about Adobe & versions. Heck. I don’t know. Where is IT when you need IT??? Someone add Kalua to that coffee….
Now she’s playing ukulele music. The bunny is chomping the lettuce super loud. Where is that “SHHHH. Studying In Session” sign???!
DS is somewhere in his room. Watching a math lecture. My memory of Algebra is super vague… So please, dear God, please don’t ask. You’re on your own, buddy.
:45 into it: GF texts “extra credit” math word problems. She uses the word “FUN” when describing said math problems. I usually don’t associate FUN with MATH. (Hence, communications major). I still don’t get it when she sends the answers. Math might use English, but it’s a whole ‘nother language for sure. This is why GF is my go-to math guru. Super great rule to follow: Always surround yourself with people who are smarter than you. This is why my circle is sort of big. Cause EVERYONE is super smarter than me. 😉
1:10: I think I’m done. I keep looking around and thinking I need to wipe that down, probably start a load of laundry, scrounge up some food. Pretty sure I have a bit of ADD. Or A Lot. My DD is groaning across the dining table from me. I think she feels the same.
E-Gads. What’s the point of this Blog? OOOOOO… Find Time To Find JOY, even in the schooling. These are history-making moments. The “I had to wake up and virtual learn in my PJ’s” will be our kids’ version of “I had to walk 10 miles to school everyday.”
So even though we’re isolated and locked-down, make the best of it. Learn something new together like discovering the “old” (go on a virtual museum tour) and making something yummy in the kitchen (lots of math in there). Dig into subjects not typically taught: auto/bike mechanics, woodworking, gardening, even economics (discuss how this world event affects our economy, the stock market, etc.). Encourage your kids to discover their passions and expand their creativity. Ask them what they want to do and just take time to hear them.
We can do this. Together.
One Last To Do:
Don’t forget to tickle fight. Like Every Day. Laugh a whole lot. Starting Now:
My friends and I had a bit of fun the other day sharing what our children were up to as our “co-workers.” (Huge thanks to everyone for letting me share!). I hope this brings a little bit of joy into your day! Until next time, blessings to you.

We Can Do This❤️
